Using the reference images taken in Sheffield I started to model the main furnace from a cylinder. Adding the raised areas of the furnace was achieved using the extrude tool. Here the main body of the object is complete, along with the lower metal detailing.
Next the connecting support is attached to the main furnace object, these objects will be merged at a later stage.
Noticing in the real example the top of the furnace has been corroded and warped by the molten metal I modelled the object to reflect this.
Here the supports which connect to the ground are added, however these will remain separate for ease of rotating the main furnace if needed within the final scene.
The other side is added to give an impression of the final model.
